Home Learning

Home learning is vital if children are to gain confidence in working independently and the self-discipline to do so. Support at home is essential.

Home learning is important because:

  • It helps to develop good work habits and study skills
  • It develops the ability to work independently
  • It allows students to consolidate and extend work begun with the teacher
  • It helps develop self motivation and self esteem

Home learning is set according to the college’s homework timetable, a copy of which is given to each child at the start of the year. Younger students should expect to receive about one hour’s homework each night. Older students will get considerably more; usually in the form of coursework with strict deadlines
